Andy Fanshawe Memorial Trust

Welcome to the Andy Fanshawe Memorial Trust. The charity was set up in memory of Andy Fanshawe, one of Britain’s leading mountaineers at the time of his death in 1992. For a short biography of Andy, please click here.

AFMT 2018 Annual Fundraiser

We’d love you to save the date and come to this year’s AFMT summer bash and fundraiser near Bakewell in the Peak District from 6 – 8 July 2018. A BBQ and auction of promises will be held on Saturday evening 7 July at Haddon Grove Farm campsite, a beautiful location overlooking Lathkill Dale.

Money raised in the auction on Saturday night helps enthusiastic youngsters enjoy the outdoors. There’s great walking, cycling and climbing and stately homes nearby. We’ve booked space for several tents: those of you camping may want to book in advance and let David Finney, the owner, know that you’ll be with Caroline’s group, but that’s not obligatory.

About the Trust

The Trust gives grants that allow disadvantaged young people to take up opportunities to develop an exciting interest in the great outdoors. We usually support programmes run by schools or youth groups, exclusively within the UK. For more details on whether your project qualifies and for information on how to apply, please click here.

As a guide to the kinds of project we support, the Trust has collated some of the dozens of ventures supported over the past two decades. Please click here for details.
